This is a unique and wonderful property for its features and location. Surrounded by the greenery of a valley in one of the most beautiful areas of Amelia countryside (TR: lower Umbria) where cultivated fields, olive groves and vineyards alternate with woods and pastures. A stream laps and partly crosses the property, forming a waterfall, which is also a journey through history: since, in the ancient times, the waters of the stream “The witches’ ditch” were used – after the construction of dams and small lakes – to operate the mills, two of which (one already renovated) are located in the property. Among them stands a medieval tower (1000/1100 BC) probably as guardian of the mills and access to the double-arched bridge – of Roman base – which connects the two banks of the stream. This small “hamlet” is completed by a carefully restored 19th-century two levels farmhouse, a former warehouse, renovated as a studio but easily convertible into a residence, overlooking the waterfall and an outbuilding obtained from the renovation of an old barn.
It’s a fascinating place with a strong personality where you can live, if you wish, even in complete isolation, away from the noises and signs of today’s civilization, while being a few kilometers from Amelia as well as the tool booth and train station of Orte, with the possibility of reaching Rome and Fiumicino airport quickly and comfortably, even with public bus service.
